Income Tax Assistance
The U.S. tax code is complex. As a result, many taxpayers miss out on credits and deductions they’ve earned. Get your personal tax return prepared with the help of certified volunteers. Bacoa partners with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide to provide free income tax assistance.
With Tax-Aide’s assistance, you can complete and submit your tax forms at no charge. All volunteers renew their certification yearly to ensure they know the current U.S. tax code.
Tax assistance is available by appointment only from February to April.
Appointment registration begins in January each year.

What You Need
Since 1968, Tax-Aide has helped nearly 50 million low to moderate-income taxpayers. It is the largest free, volunteer-based tax assistance and preparation program in the country.
There are no upper or lower income or age limits for Tax-Aide assistance, and there is no requirement to be an AARP member. Tax preparation is only available for simple returns only—no trusts, businesses, or multiple properties.

Improving Lives and Saving Money
Bacoa volunteers, with assistance from an AARP Foundation grant, were able to provide free income tax preparation assistance to 308 clients.
The average cost to prepare a simple 1040 was between $176 and $273 for an itemized Form 1040 with Schedule A and a state tax return. Total savings to clients was approximately $69,300.
