Bacoa Youth
Leadership Board

For the past 40 years, Bacoa has been serving older adults in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with resources, referrals, and support to safely navigate their aging process. Bacoa provides meaningful activities and counsel to help older adults live an active life on their terms while also supporting their families and caregivers.

Our organization could not be successful without the extensive support of the community. In an effort to extend more leadership opportunities to teens who want a deeper relationship with our organization, we have developed a Youth Leadership Board.

Members will learn about our organization and how it functions, learn about how a Board functions, build communication and inter-personal skills, develop project management and goal setting abilities, make meaningful connections to other youth in the community, and touch the lives of our clients and families.

The Youth Leadership Board will be limited to a small number of students. Members will be encouraged to serve for the remainder of their high school career so that we can provide consistency and deliver effective, meaningful projects for our organization and the students. Applicants should possess qualities such as creativity, working well in a team environment, honesty, commitment, and discipline.

Interested students should complete the application no later than October 13th, 2023. The Bacoa Youth Board Leadership Selection Committee will review all applications by merit and notify applicants by October 23, 2023. If selected, the first meeting will take place in November 2023; we will do our best to find a meeting time that works best for the majority of YLB members.
