License Plate Discount and Ride Free Transit Benefits
Older adults may be eligible for a discount on license plate stickers and RTA-Metra free ride cards. Bacoa’s staff can help you apply for or renew the Benefit Access application.

TYPES OF PLATES
The discount may be applied to the following plate categories:
PLEASE NOTE:
The discount may be used for one license plate sticker titled to the person the discount is issued.
Only one discount per household per year is allowed.
Ride Free Program
State legislation provides free rides for Illinois residents enrolled in the Benefit Access Program.
Participants will receive a Ride Free Permit—an ID card that can be used on regularly scheduled CTA, RTA-Metra, and Pace buses or trains.
What You Need to Apply
Per the Benefit Access Application
- Your correct Social Security number. You must have a Social Security number to apply.
- Proof of income.
- If you are married and living together, your spouse’s correct Social Security number and date of birth. Your spouse must have a Social Security number for you to apply.
