Day Out Participants Visits Soul Harbour Ranch

Last week, Bacoa’s adult day program, Memory Café and Alzheimer’s caregiver support group members were invited to spend the morning at Soul Harbour Ranch. Guests experienced the unconditional love of the therapy ponies, bunny, dogs and pigs.

Thanks to a grant from the Barrington Area Community Foundation (BACF), Bacoa is adding opportunities for family caregivers and their family members living with dementia to engage in shared activities.

Studies indicate a reduction in stress and anxiety for couples while participating in a shared activity.

Caregivers caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s can also become isolated. These activities offer caregivers time to meet and socialize with other family caregivers and share resources.

One guest raved, “What a fun way to spend time with my husband. We enjoyed visiting with other families and the catered lunch.”

Thanks also to Synergy Home Care for providing refreshments for the outing.
